Many people open attachment file such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel directly from Outlook, make changes to the file, click Save button, close it and finally don’t know where to find it again.
Don’t worry! Your files still may be saved in a temporary folder and I will show you how to get it back through these below steps:

1. Reopen the file from Outlook attachment.
2. Click the Microsoft Office Button, point to Prepare, and then click Properties.

3. In the Document Information panel, point to Location and copy the entire path in there.

4. Open Windows Explorer, at the Address bar paste into the path you copied in 3rd step, and then delete the file name at the end of the path, finally press Enter.

For the example above I should delete “shopping_budget.xls”

5. It will take you to the temporary folder and now you can find the document you lost.

Tips for you: always remember to save the attachment to your disk first and then open it for editing.
