Everybody tell me that I need to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon before unplugging a USB device.
I've check the Policies setting in the Device Manager on my USB. It says “you can disconnect the device safely without using the Safely Remove Hardware notification icon”, so this means I can unplug the USB device without safely removing it, right?
Anyone can answer?

The correct answer is “you should always eject a USB drive before removing it”.
Even if you choose the Quick removal option if you remove your USB device while data is being transferred to it this can lead to data corruption.

So if I wait until the transfer process finished I still can unplug my USB without safely removing it?

However, even if you see that the USB device is not in-use, it may still be in-use. A hidden program in the background may be transferring data to the drive – so data corruption still might happen.
