When updating to Windows 8.1 some people get this error. The PC after several times of restarting boots to a black screen without any error message.

The cause of this problem may come from your graphic card driver. So you should try these below steps and check if it resolves the issue.

Step 1: Boot the PC to Safe mode by pressing F8 when it’s starting.

Step 2: Disable all Graphic card (both integrated and dedicated) in Device Manager.

Step 3: Restart the PC and boot to Normal mode

Step 4: Update the latest version of graphic card driver for Windows 8.1 from your PC manufacturer’s website.

For Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

For AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

For ASUS: http://support.asus.com/download/options...=en&type=1

For Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng

For EVGA: http://www.evga.com/support/download/

For SAPPHIRE: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation...0006&lid=1

For Gigabyte: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-download...enter.aspx

Then check if it resolves the issue. If not try to re- install Windows 8.1 from Windows Store.
